Delhi pitch was one of the worst pitches & not FIT for the international Standards, as the 5th & final match between India & Srilanka was abandoned. It was a surprise that it took them 23.3 overs to decide that the pitch was unfit.
Before the match start Sunil Gavaskar said in the pitch report that it was unpredictable pitch. Considering the experience of Gavaskar & also the legend himself feeling the pitch unpredictable had already told about the standards of the delhi pitch. He discribed the uneven sprinkling grass as "hair transplant" which had some bad patches.
The pitch was totally unpredictable. It bounced over the head when the grassy areas were hit & kept low when hit the bald areas. It is a shame on BCCI & DDCA produce this kind of pitch to International Game. Srilankans were lucky enough to get just two blows in the 23.3 overs of play. Sorry for Dilshan as he god one of the deadly blow for an uneven bounce in a ashish nehra delivery. Second time it was for jayasurya when the debutant sudeep tyagi's delivery striked him to his gloves with a strong blow.
23.3 overs had full of action with Zaheer Swinging the ball extremely well Opener Tharanga was out bowled first ball of the day. Nehra's first ball could have got dilshan, but the same worst fielding following though out the series Raina dropped him at covers. Later Dilshan & Jayasuriya getting blows of the uneven bounce, Srilanka had almost collapsed & were 83-5.
It was a decission taken in a wide delivery of Sudeep tyagi, were the ball got an uneven bounce over the keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's head. Kumara Sangakarra took a decission which should've been much earlier.
It is clearly a SHAME on the BCCI & DDCA to produce such a pitch, ruining what could be a great game of cricket. It was disappointing for thousands of cricket fans who were there are the ground & the millions watching home.
