Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels India as an ageing side. He said “VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid will go soon. Zaheer Khan will not bowl forever and has suffered injuries. He missed the first Test of their series in South Africa and they lost”.
He also felt about the possibilities of other teams reaching to no.1 spot is less as Teams like South Africa haven’t got any reserve players & Sri Lanka after the retirement of Legendary Leg spinner Muttiah Muralidharan is no longer a 20 wickets taking side. Vaughan also accepted the fact that England has just beaten an average side, since Australia is currently fifth ranked team in the world.
Meanwhile Daren Gough also had some thoughts on these. He said Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men are champions only at home and England can beat them "every day of the week". Though this might sound like a joke to many people these days!, Gough seemed to be quite confident. "For me, we're the best team in the world at this moment. I've watched the South Africa-India series and I see nothing to worry about. India are fantastic in their own country and have some great individuals but I'd fancy this England side to beat them every day of the week," Gough said.
"This team are the Golden Generation. They are the side that are going to dominate world cricket for the next few years. I don't know whether that is because we're better than everybody else in sight or because we have a top-class spinner and five bowlers who could start a Test, no problem” – He added.
Now, what we can say is Playing cricket is much harder than verbal analysis!. So, the time has to answer the truth!
