Winning the toss Bangladesh Captain Shakib Al Hasan surprised everyone to elect to bat. In the two previous matches the captains who won the toss chose to field first considering the dew factor which could influence in the match later. But this surprise decision took everyone still more surprised as Bangladesh got a spectacular start which was least expected from them.
Tamim Iqbal (60R, 42B, 10boundaries, 1 six) & Imrul Kayes (70R, 100B, 5boundaries, 1 six) gave a brilliant opening stand of 80 Runs out of which Tamim Iqbal was most explosive & Imrun played a supporting role. Indian front line bowlers were blasted to corners of the ground, which made Dhoni switch to spinners in just 8 overs. Spinners bought the game little slow though. Tamim Iqbal fell for sreesanth delivery by giving catch to Gautam Gambhir.
After this stand it was quick collapse in the early middle order of Ashraful (29) was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja. Then Zaheer khan was being targeted on the field it was as if his fielding skills were being teased but Zaheer made a brilliant effort to hit a direct throw taking out the captain Al Hassan for DUCK. Raquibul Hasan showed some resistance scoring 32 runs after he was bowled by Harbhajan. Yuvraj Singh was outstanding & far better than the other bowlers bowling 10 overs giving just 33 runs which could’ve been far better if last over was a bit better!. He also managed to take wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim just when he was 6. But at the End Bangladesh had a explosive end which took them to score of 296/6 which was a highest score of them against any major test playing nations. This was possible by brilliant 60off just 45 balls by Mahmudullah who also score 8 boundaries & Naeem Islam who stood with him.
Bangladesh 296 for 6 (Kayes 70, Mahmudullah 60*, Tamim 60) Yuvraj 1-3.
In reply to this India got off to bad start as both the openers Virender Sehwag (13) Run ou), Gautam Gambhir bowled by Hossain at 18, lost them within India’s reach of 50. Yuvraj Singh was dismissed for 1 when he was bowled at his offstump by Syed Rasel, India were 51-3. Virat Kohli who came in at #3 position showed some brilliant patience & waited for the chance. He along with dhoni kept scoreboard tick by scoring 1’s & 2’s & waiting for opportunities to score boundaries. The duo in their 150+ Runs partnership never gave any chance to Bangladeshi players except when dhoni was on 61. Kohli cramped up & did need a runner at the end but gave a return catch to Bangladeshi Captain Dhoni’s (101 off 107 Deliveries) finished the match in style along with Suresh raina’s half Century in 47.3 overs!.
India 297 for 4 (Dhoni 101*, Kohli 91)Rasel 2-58.
India Beat Bangladesh with 6 wickets remaining.
M S Dhoni was the man of the match.
Dhoni said bowler need to improve as no front linebowler did preform well. He appreciated Efforts of part timers Yuvraj & Raveendra Jadeja.
Shakib Al Hasan said all credits to Indians!
