Batting first Srilanka got into a good start by Dilshan & Jayasurya in a aggressive manner. Jayasurya was the first to dismiss as he gave a catch to Ishanth sharma in a ashok dinda's delviery after opening partnership of 43. Then walked in the captain K Sangakkara who hit the ball on all corners of the staduim. He made fastet 50 for srlanka in just 21 balls. His brilliant knock of 78 had 11 boundaries & 2 sixers. He along with Kapugedra who score 47 & at the end a little fire by angelo mathews took Srilanka to a score of 215/5 in 20 overs.

Inda had a chance to chase this score & create a world record (earlier record successfully chase was 208) & the chances was great as the Man of the series Sehwag started hitting bowlers. But he was soon caught in a kulasekara delivery for 26 of 14 balls. Gambhir continued his brilliant run scoring by scoring consecutive boundaries before he was bowled of his pads legside in an angelo mathew delivery, Gambhir looked very dangerous.
