Misbah-ul-Haq (83) and Younis Khan (72) were the top scorers from the Pakistan team. Misbah responded to Murali's magic by growing more innovative. He shuffled to the off and whipped Thisara Perera and Angelo Mathews for boundaries as Pakistan collected 32 runs in the last three overs.
Sri Lanka hit back briefly in the batting powerplay with top offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan conceding just five runs in two overs that allowed Pakistan to score just 36 runs in five overs.
Herath and Perera took two wickets each with an economy rate of 4.60 and 6.88 , While Muralitharan and Mathews shared a wicket each with an economy rate of 3.50 and 5.60
Sri Lanka didn't panic and didn't gift any early wickets. The openers gradually began to find some touch and recovered to 48 from 11 overs. But Tharanga(33) was dismissed by Mohammad Hafeez in the 15th over.Later Dilshan was bowled by the pakistani skipper in the 18th over. Jayawardene(2) was bowled by Shoaib Akhtar and Samaraweera(1) was dismissed by Shahid Afridi in the 21st and 22nd over when the score was 96/4.
Silva(57) was the top scorer from the Sri Lankan team who was out in the 46th over by Abdur Rehman.
Shahid Afridi took four wickets with an economy rate of 3.40, While Shoaib Akhtar took two wickets with an economy rate of 4.06.
