West Indies batsmen finally managed to score a big total in their do or die match against the Netherlands at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi. Half centuries from Gayle, Pollard and Smith helped the West Indies team to score a total of 330 with a loss of 8 wickets.
Gayle(80) and Smith(53) scored a 100 run patnership for the first wicket. Smith was dismissed by Loots in the 17th over after hitting nine boundries in his 53 runs. Gayle played pretty slow in the begining, Gayle had scored only 6 run out of 23 deliveries in the begining , after that Gayle batted well with seven boundaries and two sixers in his 80 runs.
Loots got the break for the Netherland team after dismissing Smith in the 17th over.
Sarwan (49) missed his half century by a single run, While pollard smashed(60 out of 27 balls) Pollard smashed five boundaries and four sixes in his 60 runs.
Seelaar was the top wicket taker who took three wickets with an economy rate of 4.50, While Bukhari took two wickets and Westdijk, Doeschate, Loots managed to get a wicket each.
Netherlands batsmen returned to the pavillion as Sammy started off with Roach and Benn, the pace and spin combination did not allow the batsmen to settle down, they kept losing wickets in quick intervals and after ten Doeschate failed to score, it was a tough ask from the middle and the lower order batsmen. Roach was sensational with the ball, picked up 6 important wickets and also took a hat-trick towards the end of the innings
Cooper(55) was the top scorer from the Netherlands team whose scored nine boundaries.
Roach took six wickets with an economy rate of 3.17 , While Benn took three wickets with an economy rate of 3.50 .
"Very happy with the win, I work according to the orders of my coach and I will try to improve with every outing. My plan was to bowl straight and bring the LBW into play. Of course, we have a job ahead of us against Bangladesh and we are confident." Roach said.
"The wicket didn't play any worse, but we played badly. We were outplayed completely. After a decent performance against England, we were not able to repeat the same. Hopefully, we will get things right the next time around. Seelar bowled really well, that's a positive. It has been a disappointing performance and we could not handle the pressure. We will come back well, hopefully."Borren said.
