Ireland lost its first wicket when Stirling was bowled by Zaheer Khan in the fourth ball of the first over of the Ireland Innings. Joyce was also dismissed by Zaheer Khan in the third over when the score was 9 for 2. A 113 runs partnership from the skipper Porterfield and NJ O'Brien for the third wicket helped the Ireland team to set up a target of 208 for the team India.
The skipper of Ireland Porterfield was the top scorer of the Ireland team who scored (75 out of 104 balls ) which consisted of six boundaries and one sixer. NJ O'Brien scored(46 out of 78 balls). Cusack scored (24 from 30 balls).
Yuvraj singh did a great job with the ball by taking five wickets of the Ireland team. Zaheer Khan proved once again that he has improved a lot by taking up three wickets with an economy rate of 3.33, Harbhajan was preety unlucky today as he bowled well but didn't get any wicket today. Harbhajan gave 29 runs out of his 9 overs with an economy rate of 3.22.
Team India lost their Opener Sehwag and Gambhir in the early overs itself. Sehwag was dismissed in the 2nd over by Johnston and Gambir was also dismissed by Johnston in the 6th over. Tendulkar(38) and Kohli(34) played well with a 63 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Tendulkar was out for an leg before by Dockrell and Kohli was run out. Later the Indian skipper MS Dhoni and Yuvraj singh's batted well and their 67 runs partnership for the 5th wicket helped the team india to win the match.
Yuvraj singh showed an all round performance both with the bat as well as with the ball, Yuvraj scored half century who also had taken five wickets earlier. Yusuf Pathan scored (30 out of 24 balls ), which consisted of three huge sixers and two boundaries.
"Ireland played well and put us under pressure, but we held our nerves. I usually discuss with MS, how I have to bowl, what should be the pace and these wickets suit my bowling. Their fielding was exceptional, they have come as a different team to this WC, we had to play well to win this. I am striking the ball better, hopefully I'll continue the same way."Yuvraj said.
The captain MS Dhoni said "well off course, we needed to play well. Ireland fielded well, that's how the game got closer. The wicket got slower as the game progressed. Their bowlers bowled according to the field and did well. Everyone got a chance to bat and there was some pressure, that's a positive that we can take out. It was a good exposure, these are the games where you feel good that you have a good batsman at No. 7. It is important to peak at the right time, we are seeing a slow and a gradual improvement in our bowlers."
"We got ourselves into a great position, but lost a couple of wickets. An extra 40 runs would have been pretty interesting. The bowlers were holding the length back and that worked for us, but unfortunately we could not defend the target. We never gave hope, we were in the game until the end."Porterfield said.
