Earlier brilliant bowling performance from Imran Tahir and Robin Peterson restricted England to 171. England team has pressure on them as they had lost their previous match against the Ireland team in Bangalore.
England lost their early wickets as both the openers Strauss and Pietersen were dismissed in the first over itself which led the porteas to take over the match into their control. Bell was dismissed by Robin peterson in the fifth over when the score was 15 for 3. After which a 99 run-partnership from Trott and Bopara helped england to build up their score. Imran Tahir got the beak for the porteas by dismissing trott in the 30th over of the match when the score was 114. Bopara was out for an leg before by Morkel in the 40th over whe the score was 148 for 6. England batsman could make up only 23runs after bopara was out as the reamining batsman couldn't contribute much for the team.
Bopara(60) and trott(52 ) were the top scorers from the england team. None of the other batsman played well.
Imran Tahir was the top wicket taker for the porteas, who took four wickets, while Robin Peterson took three wickets with an economy rate of 2.75. Morkel took two wickets, while the fast bowler Steyn took was satisfied with a wicket.
South Africa had a pretty good start they lost their first wicket when the score was 63 for 1 when the skipper Smith was dismissed by Swann in the first ball of the 15th over. England bowlers bowled very well and made it hard for the South African batsman to score runs. After the skipper was dismissed Amla was out in the 18th over and Kallis was out in the 19th over which led the South African batting line into trouble.
Amla(42) was the top scorer from the South African team.
Broad was the top wicket taker for England who took four wickets with an economy rate of 2.25, While Anderson took two wickets with an economy rate of 2.66. Yardy,Bresnan and Swann took an wicket each.
"We thought that the wicket would deteriorate, but we needed to score 220-230. The guys fought back well. We were down when we lost the Ireland game, but the guys stood up admirably. We were more disciplined and we are delighted by this victory. The Bangladesh game is massive, but we need to improve on a lot of things before the game."Strauss said.
"It was a great game but it is sad that we wound up on the wrong side. We knew that chasing would be hard on this wicket. We now have a week to prepare for the India game and it will be hard for us as the competition progresses."Smith said.
"I knew last night that I would be playing. It is just great to be back in the team. I did not expect to be walking out at 15/3, but me and Trott realized that the wicket was not easy. I was surprised by the amount of turn that was there on this wicket and we knew that it would be tough when chasing."Bopara said.
