The century by the Australian skipper helped the aussies team in order to set up an target of 261 for team India. Ponting scored (104 runs out of 118 balls) which consisted of seven boundaries and one sixer. The second wicket partnership of 70 runs between Haddin and Ponting helped the team after losing the opener Watson. The opener Haddin scored (53 runs out of 62 balls) which consisted of six boundaries and a sixer in it. David Hussey smashed (38 runs out of 26 balls) and reamined unbeaten in the crease.
Indian bowlers did a pretty good job with the ball by restricting the Australian team to 260 runs. Zaheer, Ashwin and Yuvraj took two wickets each. Dhoni used seven bowlers which included Sachin and Kohli.
Even after losing the dashing opener Sehwag, the partnership of 50 runs for the second wicket between Tendulkar and Gambir helped the Indian team which was under pressure. Sachin scored (53 runs out of 68 balls), while Gambir scored (50 runs out of 64 balls). Even though Kohli and Dhoni couldn't contribute much with the bat tremendous batting from Yuvraj and Raina helped the Indian team to reach the target of 261 with 14 balls remaining. The partnership of 74 runs for the 6th wicket between Yuvraj and Raina helped the team which was under pressure. Yuvraj smashed an unbeaten (57 runs out of 65 balls)which consisted of eight boundaries in it, while Raina smashed (34 runs out of 28 balls) which consisted of two boundaries and one huge sixer.
Australian bowlers gave their best in order pick up the wickets and to restrict the Indian team from reaching the target of 261 runs but all their efforts went in vain. Lee, Tait and Hussey took a wicket each.
