Delhi : It's was likely to be another mismatch but the Netherlands promised to play "brave" cricket against the hosts, and they've won the toss and elected to bat first in Delhi. It looked initially that the Indians wanted to improve the net run rate and win quickly but soon lost the plot as wickets tumbled in quick succession.Admittedly the Indians were looking for a light game and the batsmen seemed to have little respect for the the Dutch bowlers and paid a heavy price for it as the bowlers stuck to the basics. Yuvraj Singh put his head down for the second time in a row and play sensibly to help India cross the line.
Netherland Batsman started well on the flat pitch at the Feroz Shah Kotla and made the Indian bowlers to bowl with their full effort in order to get their wickets. Netherlands lost their first wicket when Szwarczynski was bowled by Chawla in the 16th over. Barresi was out for an leg before by Yuvraj soon after Szwarczynski was dismissed by Chawla. The score was 64 for 2 in the 19th over. Ten Doeschate, Zuiderent, Cooper, Grooth went back to the pavillion as they could sustain the Indian team bowling attack.
Borren(38 out of 36balls), Szwarczynski(28 out of 42 balls) , Cooper(29 out of 58 balls), and Barresi(26 out of 58 balls) were the top scorers from the Netherlands team. The 38 runs patnership for the 9th wicket by Borren and Mudassar Bukhari helped the Netherlands team to set up an target of 190 for the team India.
Zaheer performed well by taking three wickets with an economy rate of 3.00, While Chawla and Yuvraj took two wickets each. Nehra took a wicket.
Netherland bowlers bowled well they made it tough for the Indian batsman to reach the target of 190. Seelaar dismissed the Indian openers Sehwag and Tendulkar and also dismissed the power hitter Pathan. Gambhir was bowled by Mudassar Bukhari while Kohli was bowled by Borren. India were 99 for the loss of four wickets in the 15th over. After which the Yuraj and the skipper MS Dhoni finshed the match for team India.
Yuvraj once again showed his all round performance by taking two wickets with the ball and by scoring half century with the bat. Yuvraj scored (51 runs out of 73balls) which consisted of seven boundaries in it.
"The Dutch got a decent total on the board and we need more such games. We have to win games while chasing. When we look at the last two games, we chased on pitches which were difficult to bat on. The main aim is to convert a start into a big score and finish the game. It was a slow wicket and batting was not that easy. Yuvraj is a crucial member of the team and hopefully he can continue with the good form as the tournament progresses." Gambhir said.
"At a 100/4, we were proud of ourselves and we knew that a couple of wickets and we were in with a chance. Dhoni and Yuvraj batted well again, as they did against Ireland. The openers set it up nicely for us, but it was a shame that we ended up below 200. The bowling of Seelar against some serious batting line up was fantastic. I was also down with a side strain and that's why I didn't bowl more often until today. We haven't had a win yet, but tonight's match has given us some confidence." Peter Borren said.
"Last year wasn't all that good, I was coming in and going out, happy to be back in form. My job is to play well in the middle overs and try and finish things off for my team. I was more focused, I batted according to the situation in both games. It was nice to get ten Doeschate out." Yuvraj Singh said.
