HIGHLIGHTS : New Zealand vs South Africa 3rd Quarter Finals
Mirpur : New Zealand stunner knocks favorties South Africa out of World Cup. Oram was the match winning player for the New Zealand team. Brilliant bowling from Oram helped the New Zealand team to enter the semi finals. South African bowlers bowled well by restricting the New Zealand team to 221 runs. But brilliant bowling from Oram and McCullum took away the match from the porteas. New Zealand team's disciplined bowling and fielding restricted the South Africa team for 172 runs. South Africa team were all-out after scoring 172 runs. After the dismissal of Kallis and Duminy the match was completely under the control of New Zealand team. New Zealand team never gave the oppurtunity for the porteas to bounce back in the match and registered their win by 49 runs.
Even though New zealand lost both the openers in the early stage brilliant batting from Ryder and Taylor who scored a partnership of 114 runs for the third wicket helped the New zealand team which was in trouble. Ryder smashed (83 runs out of 121 balls) which consisted of eight boundaries in it, while Taylor scored (43 runs out of 72 balls). Williamson also batted well by scoring (38 runs out of 41 balls).
Morkel was the key bowler for the South Africa team. Morkel picked up three wickets while Steyn and Tahir took two wickets each and Peterson took a wicket each.
South Africa team couldn't sustain the New zealand bowlers attack, South Africa team lost both the openers in the early overs. Kallis and AB de Villiers scored a partnership of 39 runs for the third wicket. Kallis scored (47 runs out of 75 balls), while AB de Villiers scored (35 runs out of 40 balls). After the dismissal of Kallis and AB de Villiers none of the batsman batted well apart from du Plessis who scored (36 runs out of 43 balls).
Oram was the key bowler for the New Zealand team, he picked up four wickets while McCullum picked up three wickets. Southee and Woodcock took a wicket each.
