Pallekele : Chigumbura's decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired the Zimbabwe team as the Zimbabwe team batsman couldn't sustain the pacers attack. Due to rain the match was reduced to 38 overs. Zimbabwe lost their first three wickets within the six overs and the score was 13 for the loss of three wickets. Taibu was dismissed in the 13th over after which Lamb was also dismissed by the Pakistani skipper Afridi.

Pakistani bowlers disciplined bowling attack made the Zimbabwe batsman return back to the pavilion without scoring much for the team. Umar Gul was the top wicket taker, who took three wickets, while Afridi, Riaz and Razzaq managed to take an wicket each.
Even after losing the opener Shehzad in the early overs, it didn't affect much for the Pakistan team as the brilliant batting performance from Hafeez and Shafiq who scored 82runs partnership for the 2nd wicket helped the team in reaching the target in the 34th over itself. Hafeez missed his half century by one run as he was dismissed by Utseya. Shafiq was unbeaten, he scored (78 runs from 97 balls) which consisted of seven boundaries in it. Afridi failed once again as he was bowled by Price after scoring just three runs.
Price took two wickets and was the top wicket taker, while Utseya took a wicket.
