Centuries from AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla showed the way to 231-run victory over the Netherlands in their Group B in mohali.
After losing the toss, the South African team batted first. South Africa lost two early wickets as Smith(20) and Kallis(2) were dismissed by Loots and Ten Doeschate in the 13th and 16th over.
A 221-run patnership for the third wicket by Amla and De Villiers helped the Proteas to set up a huge total of 352. Amla scored (113 out of 130 balls ) which consisted of eight boundaries in it. De Villiers scored (134 out of 98 balls) which consisted of thirteen boundaries and four sixers in it.
Duminy smashed 40 runs out of 15 balls with four sixers and two boundaries.
Ten Doeschate was the top wicket taker for Netherlands who took three wickets.
Netherlands team lost ealy wickets, the Netherland batsman couldn't with stand the bowling attack of the Barresi was the only batsman who batted pretty well from the Netherlands team He scored (44 runs out of 66 balls) which consisted of five boundaries in it.
Tahir took three wickets with an amazing economy rate of 2.78, While Kallis and Peterson took two wickets each.
"Nice to get a win under the belt. ABD and Amla were outstanding. We have a pressure match coming up during the weekend. We are playing well as a unit. ABD has picked up a back strain, but apart from him everyone are fit and raring to go." Smith said.
"It's always tough when we lose by a huge margin. We tried hard but couldn't match them. The more matches we play against top teams, then we can perform better." Borren said.
"Had a good game today, we had to work hard toady, it's always feels nice to get back to back hundreds in WCs. My back was hurting a bit, so I didnt come onto the field." AB de Villiers said.
