A patnership of 88 runs for the fourth wicket by Smith and Pollard helped the team which was under the control of the Ireland bowlers. None of the batsman apart from the opener Smith, Pollard and Chanderpaul managed to score a double digit, It was Pollard who boosted the score to 275 by smashing eight boundaries and five sixers in his (94 runs out of 55 balls). Pollards innings was ended by Mooney and Pollard missed his century by just six runs. Smith scored (107 runs out of 133 balls ) which consisted of eleven boundaries and one sixer.
Kevin O'Brien this time performed well with the ball and was the top wicket taker who took four wickets. Mooney took two wickets, While Rankin, Botha, Dockrell took an wicket each.
Ireland opener Stirling was dismissed in the second over by Benn, later the skipper Porterfiled was dismissed by Sammy in the 12th over. It was EC Joyce and GC Wilson who helped the Ireland team by scoring 91runs for the fourth wicket. Joyce scored (84 runs out of 106 balls) which consisted of nine boundaries in it. Joyce was bowled by Russell in the 40th over. Wilson scored (61 out of 62 balls) with six boundaries and one sixer.
Benn was the top wicket taker who took four wickets, While the skipper Sammy did great job with the ball by taking three wickets with an economy rate of 3.10 with three maiden overs out of ten overs he bowled. Russell and Roach took an wicket each.
