Sachin's International Carrer
Sachin’s first Test match was against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989 when he was just 15. He still remembers that day : “That was Kapil Dev’s 100the Test match & it was so important & the standards were so high!, When I went to bat I had to face Wasim Akram, I Still remember the first ball I faced was a bouncer. So, I expected the next one to be a Yorker!, but no, I got one more bouncer, so I expected next delivery will be a bouncer because that was why wasim was famous for, but again I got one more bouncer & since the next delivery was the last delivery of the over so I thought this should be a bouncer!, but again it was a bouncer. Then I understood one thing Test Cricket is not as what we think, it is of uncertainties.”.
Cricindia says - “As I have read in a newspaper, there was a reason behind those bouncers. Imran Khan the captain of Pakistan said that! When Wasim Akram was throwing bouncers at Vengsarkar, Ravi Shastri, Kiran More, When Tendulkar stepped in Imran khan said to wasim “Hey look!, those people are gonna be retired in no time, & there will be no trouble for pak from these guys. If at all you wanna break someone’s bones it should be of this kids” & the next over was full of bouncers, & a bouncer struck tendulkar in the final test in Sialkot into bleeding from nose & mouth. Many thought of bring a stretcher & getting sachin for some medical assistance, but the little master just rubbed his jaw & stood strong, sending the next delivery for boundary!.”
In tests he score 215 runs at 35.83 average. In a 20 over exhibition game in Peshawar, Tendulkar made 53 runs of 18 balls, including an over in which he scored 28 runs off Abdul Quadir. This was later called "one of the best innings I have seen" by the then Indian captain Kris Srikkanth.
Cricindia says - “this was a contest were Pakistan batted first & scored 157 of 20 overs. India lost first 4 wickets early. Tendulkar came in for the fifth wicket & hit a superb sixer! To mushtaq Ahmed. Spin Veteran Abdul Quadir couldn’t tolerate this, he stepped in & said tendulkar “Mustaq is still a kid, if you have guts just try hitting me a boundary!. Quadir’s teasing statement had no reaction from sachin. He just smiled & the next ball was a SIX!!, second ball was no run, third was a boundary!, & would you imagine! The debutant hit spin veterans last 3 balls to continuous sixers!.
Next was New Zealand series where he scored 117 runs at an average of 29.25 runs including 88 run innings in second test. & only managed to score 36 in the two ODI’s.
England Tour 1990 he became the second youngest (then youngest) cricketer to score a Test century as he made 119* at Old Trafford. Wisden described his innings as "a disciplined display of immense maturity" and also wrote : "He looked the embodiment of India's famous opener, Gavaskar, and indeed was wearing a pair of his pads. While he displayed a full repertoire of strokes in compiling his maiden Test hundred, most remarkable were his off-side shots from the back foot. Though only 5ft 5in tall, he was still able to control without difficulty short deliveries from the English paceman." This was one of the best innings Sachin had ever played.

Tendulkar was appointed as Captain for the side after that loss. Though he was the best player, his tenure as a captain was not successful. It was huge hopes & expectations on him, however team was performing poorly & Azaruddin credit saying "He won't win! It's not in the small one's destiny". Later Captaincy was handed over back to Azhar in 1997.
1998 : Austalian tour of India showed everyone in the world how good sachin was. Tendulkar before the tour knew that Australian squad had the Spin Legend Shane Warne & Gavin Robertson.
